Zwei neue Bücher: Alemannischer Tierstil und Kelten

Der Besuch im Landesmuseum Stuttgart flasht mich immer noch. Ich habe so viel gesehen! Ich könnte stundenlang aufzählen.
Zeigen kann ich auf jeden Fall die beiden Bücher, die ich gekauft habe:

Kunststile des Frühen Mittelalters von Günther Haseloff, mit vielen vielen tollen Erklärungen zur Entstehung und Entwicklung des alemannischen Tierstils. Es beantwortet meine Fragen, die ich zur Verwandtschaft des skandinavischen und alemannischen Tierstils habe, und wer sich in die wunderschönen Illustrationen nicht verliebt, dem kann man auch nicht mehr helfen :)

Aufbruch nach Europa, Heimat der Kelten am Ursprung der Donau

Es geht auf einige bedeutende keltische Fundstätten in Baden-Württemberg ein und beschreibt und erklärt die markantesten Funde. Das Buch enthält viele schöne Illustrationen, und fasst wirklich sehr gut Informationen zusammen. Besonders in die Tiefe geht es aber nicht, und an den Illustrationen hat man sich auch nicht totbeschriftet. Trotzdem, ich bin froh, es zu haben. 'Kelten für Anfänger', sozusagen, und für den schnellen Überblick.

Booby Ruby progress

Yes, I have been busy crafting, time to get some of it on the blog. Today, my she-gome Ruby got her arms on. She is for the roaming gnome swap on craftster and I must finish her this week.
I used the doll pattern I developed for my nalbound wool dolls, but for Ruby, I use silk. I found this heavy silk yarn in a thrift store and just couldn't resist it. I stored it in my bottomless stash :) and when I needed a very lightweight material for making a gnome that can be sent overseas, I had to use it.
The silk is very beautiful, but the slight rustling noises it makes are a bit weird.
Here is Ruby:
Sculpting the boobs did not work out as I wished it would, but I stuffed Ruby with the same silk I use for nalbinding, so the holes between the connecting stitches don't show too much.
Now she needs legs (hopefully I learned from my previous experiences that there is no such thing as too long legs), and I must decide upon her outfit. Viking to match the nalbinding technique? Alemanic or Celtic to match the mini-me idea? Stone Age to match the Stone Age idol idea? Or just what I can make the fastest? :)
